A new ski slope will be opened in Kabardino-Balkaria

A new ski slope with a red level of difficulty will be opened in 2020 at the Elbrus resort in Kabardino-Balkaria Republic. This was reported on Wednesday in the press service of the company "Resorts of the North Caucasus."

“It is planned to open a new route of red difficulty at Elbrus this year. It will begin at around 3,846 m, its length along the slope will be about 1,515 m,” the report said.

As noted in the company, construction work, tentatively, will begin in mid-summer. In addition, it is planned to open another cableway at Elbrus.

Currently, the Resort Elbrus has 15.4 km of equipped ski slopes and seven ski lifts. In 2015, the third stage of the gondola cable car was built there, which became the highest in Europe, reaching 3,847 m. Mountain areas attract outdoor enthusiasts, and Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe (5,642 m), is popular as a year-round resort.

The North Caucasus Resorts Joint-Stock Company was established in 2010 to manage the project of creating a tourism cluster in the North Caucasus Federal District. The project provides for the construction of new world-class ski resorts: Arkhyz (Karachay-Circassia), Veduchi (Chechnya), Elbrus (Kabardino-Balkaria), Matlas (Dagestan), Tsori and Armkhi (Ingushetia), as well as beach resorts on the Caspian coast (Dagestan).
