Two new cable cars to be built in Kabardino-Balkaria

At the Elbrus resort, two cable cars will be built at an altitude of 3.5 thousand meters above sea level, -  general director of the North Caucasus Resorts JSC Khasan Timizhev said . “We will create an additional alpine skiing area, which over time will acquire the services demanded by guests and new infrastructure.”

The head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Kazbek Kokov, in a recent interview with federal news agencies during the St. Petersburg Investment Forum, said that the development of tourism is for the republic "a historically established locomotive of the economy" and one of the priority areas of infrastructure development.

“The influx of tourists to Kabardino-Balkaria is growing every year. In absolute terms, in the first quarter of 2021, about 220 thousand tourists visited the Elbrus ski resort alone. That's a 38 percent increase till the Covid 19 of 2019. And if we compare with 2020, when the tourism industry in the world was practically paralyzed due to a lockdown, we get an increase of over 80 percent,” Kazbek Kokov cited statistics of recent months.
